WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE:
- I love this air fryer bread recipe because it is so easy. I can make a simple loaf of soft white bread in my air fryer. And, making bread in the air fryer is much faster than baking in the oven too.
- There is nothing like having a fresh loaf of bread fresh out of the oven. My kids love when I use fresh bread to make air fryer eggs in a basket, or air fryer grilled cheese sandwiches.
- This bread makes the perfect air fryer toast snack that is perfect with just a little butter and jam or honey. Because it’s so fast, I tend to make it more than baking bread in the oven too.
INGREDIENTS:
Besides an air fryer, springform pan and mixing bowl, to make this recipe you will need:
- instant yeast– instant yeast or active yeast will work. Instant will help the dough rise a little bit faster.
- warm water-Not HOT water. If water is too hot it won’t activate the yeast.
- all-purpose flour
- granulated sugar
- salt
- milk
- egg-whisked with a tablespoon of water for the egg wash to brush on top of the bread to help it turn golden brown.
HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER BREAD:
STEP 1
To make this recipe, I first let the yeast bloom. Add yeast like Fleischmann’s, in a medium bowl that has warm water. Let the yeast sit for about 3 to 5 minutes to bloom. When it blooms, you will see it bubble.
STEP 2
Once the yeast has activated, add in the flour sugar milk softened butter and salt. Gently fold the ingredients together until they are well combined and slightly flaky.
STEP 3
Transfer the bread dough onto a well floured surface and knead the dough until it is smooth and then shape it into a ball. You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment or your hands to knead the dough.
STEP 4
Once the dough is in the shape of a ball, place it in a springform pan, lined with parchment paper or lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray or olive oil.
STEP 5
Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and place it in a warm place until the dough rises to be about double in size.
STEP 6
When the dough has doubled, remove the plastic wrap or towel cover. Lightly brush the top of the bread loaf with an egg wash. Place the pan in the air fryer basket and air fry at 320 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
STEP 7
Remove from pan and transfer to cooling rack. Once cooled, cover or store in airtight container.
TIPS:
- Allow the bread to cool completely before storing to prevent moisture in the bread. This can cause mold or sogginess.
- Keep the bread in an airtight container to help preserve it’s freshness.
- Store the bread in the refrigerator to help it last longer. You can also wrap it and freeze it for later use.
- Using a circle of parchment paper to line the springform pan makes for easy removal. If you aren’t using a pan, be sure to line your basket with air fryer parchment paper.
- If you don’t use something to line the basket, the bread dough will sink through the holes in the basket without parchment paper
- Making Air Fryer Bread is incredibly easy. This simple recipe makes a perfect loaf of bread that is soft inside, topped with a golden crust.
VARIATIONS
For whole grain bread, substitute the flour for whole wheat flour.
This dough is great for breadsticks, garlic bread, or these air fryer rolls. The base dough for this recipe is a delicious white bread so you can incorporate a few ingredients to change up the flavors. Add garlic and herbs or shredded cheese for unique twists.
STORING:
Seal leftovers or wrap in a dry container. It will taste fresh for 3-4 days. If stored in the fridge, it will last a few days longer. This bread can be frozen for 6-8 months.
FAQ’s:
How can I tell if the bread is cooked on the inside?
I tap on the bottom of the bread, and if it sounds like it’s hollow, it should be done on the inside. The bottom of the bread should not feel doughy.
Can I use a regular bread loaf pan for this recipe?
If you use a loaf pan, half the bread dough and make two loaves. Because the air fryer cooks differently than a traditional oven and if it’s too thick, it won’t be able to properly cook the bread.
This bread can be used for so many fun recipes too. Depending on what I want to make, I just cut the slices thick enough and I can make avocado toast, garlic bread, or French toast.

Notes:
- Air frying cooking times may vary. Add 1-2 minutes cooking time if necessary, until the top of the bread is golden brown.
- I use instant yeast instead of active yeast, because the dough will rise a bit faster, and doesn’t require proving. Keep in mind if you use active yeast, it will take about 15-30 more minutes for the dough to rise, but you can use either.
