Ingredients:

  • 4 slices bread cut into small pieces
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  • Cut bread into small pieces, about ½ inch to 1 inch cubes. Add bread pieces into a large mixing bowl.
  • Toss bread pieces with olive oil until each piece is well coated.
  • Add the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and parsley flakes. Toss with the bread cubes to coat with the seasonings.
  • Transfer the coated bread to the air fryer basket, spreading out as much as possible to avoid overlapping.
  • Air Fry at 390 degrees F for 6-7 minutes, tossing or shaking the croutons halfway through the cooking time.

Notes:

  • Four slices of bread cut into squares, makes about four cups of bread cubes, and they all fit perfectly into my air fryer.
  • All air fryers are different. Cooking times may vary. If using smaller ½ inch cubes you can lower cooking time. If using bite-sized pieces that are 1-1 ½ inches, you may need to add a couple minutes to cooking time.
  • For buttery croutons, substitute melted butter for oil.

Air Fryer Croutons: Quick, Crunchy, and Delicious

Making Air Fryer Croutons is a breeze with minimal prep and just a few minutes of cooking. They taste way better than store-bought versions thanks to their fresh, crunchy goodness.

This simple recipe for homemade air fryer croutons requires only bread, extra virgin olive oil, and a few seasonings. It’s that easy!

Pro Tip: For the best flavor and texture, make sure to coat each bread cube evenly with olive oil and seasonings.

Why You’ll Love These Croutons:

  • Quick and Easy: With minimal prep and a cooking time of under 10 minutes, these croutons are a fast and convenient option.
  • Customizable: Use your favorite types of bread and seasonings to make these croutons just right for you.
  • Versatile: Great for adding crunch to soups and salads or for snacking on their own.

Ingredients:

  • Bread (any kind you like: sandwich, French, whole wheat, sourdough, etc.)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for flavor; melted butter can also be used)
  • Parsley flakes
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder (or 2 minced garlic cloves if you prefer fresh)
  • Salt (just a pinch is enough)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Bread: If not pre-sliced, cut the bread into ½ to 1-inch cubes using a serrated knife. Place the cubes in a large bowl.
  2. Season the Bread: Drizzle olive oil over the bread cubes, then add onion powder, garlic powder, parsley flakes, and salt. Toss until all pieces are evenly coated.
  3. Air Fry: Spread the seasoned bread cubes in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding for even cooking. Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 6-7 minutes, shaking or tossing halfway through. Adjust time as needed until they are golden and crispy.
  4. Cool and Store: Allow the croutons to cool before serving or storing. They can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their crunch.

How to Store:

Keep leftover croutons in an airtight container or Ziploc bag at room temperature to ensure they stay crispy.

Variations:

  • Use croutons as seasoned bread crumbs for recipes like stuffing, casseroles, or meatloaf.
  • Experiment with different seasonings such as thyme, rosemary, or Italian herbs, or use pre-seasoned bread for extra flavor
